Hi, I am considering buying a 20 years old condo for own stay but find the size too big for my use. The unit comes with 2 door (a back door at kitchen area). I am wondering if it is possible for me to renovate unit using dual-key concept (create a studio that uses the back kitchen door) hence converting this huge unit into a dual key unit. Given that there will be no issue with other aspects of design - eg. toilet, kitchen, refuse chute etc. Is this method illegal? Do I need to apply for special permission to do that?

Hi,

As long as there are no illegal modifications or hacking or alteration of walls that will affect the structural integrity of the building, usually the MA is able to approve the design. That said, an experienced ID and contractor's experienced inputs are very valuable to your plans.

Alternatively, hope you could share more about your plans so I am able to pinpoint projects that may be a better fit with your objectives. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.
