Hi gurus,

I'm a Malaysian (foreigner) and I have a a house in Malaysia. I am married to a SC. We are planning to get a private condo in Singapore. This will be our first matrimony property in Singapore. Are we subject to ABSD? Thank you.

I'm confused. The first few gurus said we are not subject to ABSD at my wife is a SC and its our first matrimony home in Singapore.
Afternoon,

With your spouse, this unit will be considered as your matrimonial unit. Hence ABSD is not payable. Do note that the amount of loan you will be eligible for might be subjected to TDSR ruling.

Do contact me for further discussion.

Good evening buyer,

As your household has at least one Singaporean thus for your first residential property purchase in Singapore, both of you won't be subject to 15% ABSD even though you are a foreigner but normal buyer's stamp duty still applies.

Do take note that if you are going to purchase a resale HDB under non citizen spouse scheme, only your SC spouse's income will be taken into consideration in obtaining mortgage and you have to dispose off your private property be it in Singapore or overseas within 6 months from completion date.

Hope my explanation helps!

If you need any assistance or advice in your property purchase, feel free to contact me.

Hear from you soon!
