HI Guru,

What should we do if I'm a SC who owns an exec condo joining with my sibling. And my fiance is a SPR for almost 10 years already and is currently applying for SC. We r gg to get marry in Dec 2022. Can my fiance buy a resale HDB under his name only? Please advise !

To purchase a resale HDB solely under his name, he needs to be 35 years old or above and a Singapore citizen (unmarried) to be eligible to purchase under Singles Scheme.

If he is 35 years old and above single singaporean citizen, he can purchase resale HDB in his own name. If you guys get married, both your names are required to purchase the resale HDB under public scheme. Perhaps we can discuss further on the best way forward? I am contactable at 97432395

Hi Ms,

Unfortunately he will not be able to purchase a resale HDB under his sole name because as a married couple, both you and your fiance are considered as a single entity and therefore both your names will need to be included as owners or essential occupiers. In this case, you will need to dispose of your share in the EC within 6 months from the purchase completion of the HDB.
