Hi Guru,

I have a question about eligibility to buying new EC. My wife is a PR.I bought a resale EA HDB flat in Dec 2007 as a single without any CPF grant and did not complete 3 year MOP. The flat is fully paid no outstanding loan.

1. Can I buy a new EC with my wife even though I did not complete the 3 year MOP?

2. Can I keep my resale flat and at the same time own a EC?

3. I employed overseas and don't not have CPF contribution will it affect my application for new EC if I am eligible?

Hi, I'm afraid you could only purchase a New EC unit after you hit the MOP. And nope, you can't keep both the EC as well as the EA unit.

You need to meet your MOP first before you can purchase any 2nd residential property. You also can't keep both EC and HDB. Thanks and hope to assist further.

Afternoon,

You must fulfill the MOP requirement before you are eligible to apply for subsidized unit. Even after you have fulfilled the MOP, you will be required to sell away your HDB unit within 6 months from key collection date.

Good evening EC upgrader,

Do take note that you have to fulfill your minimum occupation period first before you can apply for new EC.

Since your property had been purchased in 2007, may i know how come you have not completed the MOP? Is it because you are outstation for a very long time?

Btw you can't keep both resale HDB and new EC at the same time. You have to sell off your HDB within 6 months from TOP or key collection date of the new EC.
