Dear gurus, gd day to u. My father and mother in law has recently sold their flat and currently staying at a relative plc for a while since I cant accommodate them due to living with my parents and wife with a kidas well. Question is, what are their chances to get a HDB subsidized rental flat at an earlier period since the ruling is to wait for 30mths after selling their flat? They are 75 and 66 years old with my sec. 1 sis in law in tow earning less than $1000-$1200 combine income working as cleaners. Financially we are all tight thus they need to sell to support my sis in law and for their medical and other expenses. Their sales proceeds can't even manage to get the cheapest unit since their CPF is locked due their age. Cant depend on my brother in law as he too is having house issues due to non payment of mortgage. Cant stay at relative plc for long too. Will MP appeal strong enough to counter this or if we go HDB directly will they help for exceptional basis? Thanks in advance!

Afternoon,

As per the seller's resale checklist, it's being make known to your parents on the condition. You should have ask your parents to approach CPF board and request for part of the CPF returns to be hold onto, for the next possible purchase.
You can try to approach the MP, even though chances are slim.

Hi Mike, thanks for replying. Issue here is the flat is co own by my wife and my father in law's CPF is $14000 after the sales and the huge amt goes back to my wife CPF. They need to sell due to financial issue and becos my wife quit her job to care for my son as my parents are in their 70s as well and it will be a problem due to mortgage since my wife is the only contributor. Due to this, the amt after sale even if they can put a deposit, will not be enuff to clear the balance as hdb or bank could not loan to them due to their combine income. Resale flats with COV r already expensive and new flats have to wait and not guaranteed due to they being a 2nd timer and ballots favours first timers
The S&P process needs careful and confident planning in financial, timeline and checklist especially HDB, CPF, bank and lawyer etc. Recently my client 'suddently' bought a dream condo while 'holding on' to a HDB flat. They needed the extra 'funds' for the condo. Hence, after a series of planning, discussion and deliberation, they finally decided to sell their HDB unit. Engage an agent if you expect a consistent S&P process. The stress relief effort is enormous and the commission is insignificant. Check this site: www.catherinepang.com Read More
