Hi. They are referring to the ethnic ratio imposed by the HDB. For every HDB block, every ethnic group can occupy up to a certain % of occupancy in the whole block.

So e.g. when an Indian family sells their flat, and yet the ethnic quota of Chinese has max out in that block already, they can only ask for Indian buyers or Malay buyers.

Consequently, because advertising costs are so expensive in newspaper, they can only use very brief words like e.g. "No Chinese".

    Actually I was referring to the rental of condominium apartments where this 'ethnic ratio' does not apply.
