About 880,000 Singaporean households living in HDB flats will receive GST Voucher – Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebates this month to offset part of their utilities bills, revealed the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on Tuesday (2 January).

Distributed every three months, the U-Save rebate is set to cost $265 million over four quarters, beginning from July 2017.

“In January 2018, eligible Singaporean households will each receive a GST Voucher – U-Save of up to $95, depending on their HDB flat type,” said the ministry.

Homeowners living in 1- and 2-room HDB flats will receive support equivalent to around three to four months of their utilities bills on average.

Those living in 3- and 4-room flats, on the other hand, will receive support that is equivalent to around one to two months of their utilities bills.

The ministry noted that households whose members own more than one property are not qualified to receive the U-Save rebates.
