The shortlist of nominees for the South East Asia Property Awards (Singapore) 2016 were announced on Thursday (27 October).

Now in its sixth year, the international event is organised by PropertyGuru and presented by Hansgrohe.

A total of 12 companies are vying for 19 award categories, including Special Recognition in Sustainable Development.

The categories were judged over several months by an independent panel of experts led by architect and designer Mink Tan of MINKEE Architects, who also chaired the judging panel last year.

Among the big-name developers nominated are Qingjian Realty, M+S, Novel Developments and City Developments Limited (CDL).

In addition, Francis Koh, CEO of Koh Brothers Development, will be presented with the Real Estate Personality of the Year award by the editors of Property Report magazine for his significant contributions to the industry.

“Singapore continues to produce world-class developments that are the gold standard for any country in ASEAN, and is a regional leader in CSR and sustainable development,” said Terry Blackburn, Founder and Managing Director of the Asia Property Awards, which is now in its 11th year.

“We’re confident that this year’s programme will recognise the growing importance of sustainability among developers not just in Singapore but in Southeast Asia as a whole, and will set a new benchmark of quality for the region’s real estate sector,” he added.

The awards will be handed out during a gala dinner on 24 November at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore before the grand finale of the South East Asia Property Awards 2016, where the top winners from eight ASEAN countries will compete for the Best of the Best (South East Asia) honours.
