Property developer CapitaLand has clinched the prestigious Business China Enterprise Award at the Business China Awards 2012, in recognition of its business growth and efforts to strengthen Singapore-China relations.

“It is a privilege and honour that CapitaLand receives this year’s Business China Enterprise Award. CapitaLand first entered China 18 years ago in 1994, and since then, we have been closely linked to China’s urbanisation and are a part of its city-making process,” said CEO Liew Mun Leong.

Nominees were evaluated based on four key areas – financial performance, contribution to Singapore-China relations, innovation and company or organisation management.

CapitaLand was recognised for creating partnerships with local developers and municipal governments to build stronger bonds between both countries. For instance, it took part in philanthropic efforts for underprivileged children and the conservation of giant pandas.

Lim Ming Yan, the group’s COO said: “In the last 18 years, CapitaLand has been deeply rooting itself in the vast Chinese market, integrating international concepts with local practices. Through years of perseverance and effort, China has grown to become the largest overseas market for CapitaLand.”

He noted that the company has leveraged on China’s rapid development, strong bilateral ties and pro-business environment, using its property expertise to contribute to the progress of both nations.
