Albert Teo, CEO of Amara Holdings, will be the new head of the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (Redas), according to a report from The Business Times.
Mr. Teo will take over from SC Global Developments’ Simon Cheong, who has headed the organisation for the maximum two straight terms allowed by Redas.
According to The Business Times, Redas held its annual general meeting last week, when the new management committee was selected. The management committee then elected the president.
Mr. Teo was said to be absent at the election but was represented.
The management committee will likely meet again today, under the chairmanship of Mr. Teo, to elect the rest of the executive committee, which includes two vice-presidents, a secretary, an assistant secretary, a treasurer and an assistant treasurer.
Last week, Chia Ngiang Hong, Group General Manager of City Developments, and Lim Ee Seng, CEO of Frasers Centrepoint, who previously served as first and second vice-president respectively, were elected to the management committee.
Others elected are GuocoLand’s Trina Loh, NTUC Choice Homes’ Margaret Goh and Pontiac Land Group’s Kwee Yi-Lin.
The new exco and management committee will likely be inaugurated at Redas’ Chinese New Year gathering.
Mr. Teo, a chartered accountant by training, is not new to Redas. He was part of the previous management committee.
Before joining Amara group, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Cold Storage Group and the International Bank of Singapore.
