Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) is planning to put its premier brand behind a second luxury hotel in Singapore.
The hospitality chain expects to have the second luxury hotel up by end of this year but claimed the timetable has not been confirmed.
Currently, the company’s network in the country only has Capella Singapore, a 12-hectare first-class resort in Sentosa. It features everything sophisticated from recreation to fine-dining and health. The resort claims to be one of the most romantic backdrops for honeymoons and weddings.
During the first half of 2010, LHW’s marketing and branding of Capella has helped it generate US$2 million ($2.7 million) in sales, up 53 percent over the same period last year.
LHW is now planning to build its second luxury hotel in the country and targeting the city centre as a possible location.
According to the group, the new hotel should be as iconic as the Capella to provide its high-end clients a unique experience. LHW sees big opportunities in Singapore because of record tourism figures, driven by the launch of the two integrated resorts.
In Asia, the company is optimistic about China, Japan, Taiwan, India and Australia due to the numbers of high net worth individuals. Its nearly 60 luxury hotels in Asia have generated US$28 million in the first half of 2010, an increase of 36 percent on-year.
