LEGOLAND Malaysia has, for the first time, opened the Model Building Centre to specially selected guests, at an event hosted by Iskandar Investment Berhad – the catalytic developer of Iskandar Malaysia.
Specially invited visitors, including Y.A.B. Dato’ Haji Abdul Ghani bin Othman, Chief Minister of Johor, were granted access to the workshop, where more than 15,000 LEGO Models for LEGOLAND Malaysia are being created.
It was the first time in the history of the park that non-employees were given a chance to see the behind-the-scenes of LEGOLAND theme parks throughout the world. The guests saw first-hand the process of creating LEGOLAND model structures and had a preview of the structures that will become part of the park.
The 0.3-acre Model Building Centre for the park at Nusa Cemerlang Industrial Park serves as the work studio of the LEGOLAND Malaysia Model Builders.
“LEGOLAND Malaysia will open in 2012 but the creative process is already underway. Our lucky guests today are the first ever people outside of the LEGOLAND Malaysia team to enter the workshop and see for themselves the many models which our model builders have completed and are in the midst of creating for LEGOLAND Malaysia – from small structures you will see around the theme park to miniature replica of iconic landmarks from across Asia. Trust me when I say that every day is a fun day at work here in the Model Building Centre for LEGOLAND Malaysia,” said Tim Burnell, Production Director of Merlin Entertainments, which operates LEGOLAND.
