Singapore shares opened higher, with the Straits Times Index up 0.53 percent or 14.45 points at 2,754.15.
Turnover was at 106.3 million shares valued at $268 million or US$190 million. Gainers led losers by 79 to 42.
Shares of Parkway Holdings increased 70 cents at $3.72 after a report that India’s Fortis Healthcare is considering to release a counter-offer for the Singapore-based firm.
Other advancers included Jardine Matheson, Jardine Strategic, Great Eastern Holdings, Singapore Airlines and City Developments.
