Looking for a 1BR apartment (move-in Oct 2016), how early should I start to look? 1 month ahead? Kindly also advise if a 1k - 1.5k budget is workable.

Hi,
You should start hunting about 4-6 weeks before your confirmed move in date to ensure that you have sufficient time to visit the available rental units and to process all the paper work for move-in.
This includes:
- tenancy agreement
- stamp duty payment
- establishing ownership/rights to lease of landlord
- inventory checks before move in and after end of lease handover
The rental budget of 1-1.5k is possible but may compromise on the type of property and location that you can secure.
