I have a 3-bed condo unit that is about 17 years old. It has been rented out for many years now and it looks 'old' and dated. I want to give it a "facelift" at a minimal cost so that I can rent it out again at market rate.

The designers I approached are only interested if I replace the whole bathroom, kitchen and wardrobe. What I need is advice on what I can "recycle" by painting/covering/cleaning/polishing and techniques to give the place a new look and feel without replacing/hacking everything. Similar to the "shoestring" renovation shows on TV. :)

Does anyone provide this service and coordinate with contractors on it?

Hi, it would be very obvious that designers you approached would want you to spend more if not, it would be a small job and none would be even keen to take up. My suggestion will be going for those individual company like painter, electrician and etc and these company would be most glad to offer their services and packages to you.

Dear owner,

Do you really think that such shoestring budget renovation exists?

I assume that most contractors are making such suggestions such that once the changes and improvements are being done, the supposed new conditions can last you for another 17 years instead of having to do it once every few years. In order for you to carry out a really shoestring renovation, it is suggested that you read up more about what could be done and not or have ideas on what you wish to replace and changed or touched up. Everyone out there is doing a business therefore when there is an opportunity for them to propose changes, one will be more likely to propose more than sufficient, don't you agree?
