Hi, I noticed an additional term on my tenancy agreement not highlighted to me by my agent at the point of signing 3 weeks ago. It states that half of the deposit paid by tenant forfeited by landlord shall go to agent. Would like to know if this is usual? How likely is agent to remove it upon request? Validity period of 3 months not over yet so does it mean I can renegotiate? In addition, does validity period of 3 months mean agreement is only in force for 3 months even though it was a 1 year rental contract?
If it is a standard clause, why was it added in manually under the additional clause section? Why should landlords be faulted if tenant breaks agreement by not adhering to the terms and conditions such as giving 1 month notice for instance? In addition, is this only applicable during the validity period of 3 months or throughout the 1 year lease period?
