Evening Sage,

Your loan period stretch through your MOP period of 5 years hence you will be eligible to purchase private property upon clocking the 5 years mark. Being SC or PR, you are eligible to keep your HDB unit after purchase of private property. The restriction will only be on the rental issues.

Hi Sage,

You are only able to purchase a private property after you have fulfilled the applicable minimum occupation period for your HDB flat. Thus I will say that you are unable to do so even you fully paid up your HDB loan even before the 5 years MOP.

It also means that you are only able to exercise option to purchase a private property when your HDB flat fulfills its MOP, you cant buy a private property now which will TOP in year 2016.

You can own two properties as in HDB and condo if you have fulfilled the MOP first and buy the condo.

Currently you might choose to invest in others like commercial/ industrial properties to accumulate more funds for your future residential purchase.
