What is readily known is that the mixed development will bring a few more shops and restaurants to an already well-stocked and upbeat district.

Location

183 Longhaus is an upcoming 4-storey mixed development to be built on the site previously occupied by popular local hawker centre, Long House. It was sold for a modest $45.2m in January of 2015.

Upper Thomson Road, where 183 Longhaus will be located along, is a lengthy stretch dotted with various retail outlets.

The development is between an OCBC bank and a Shell petrol station but further down Upper Thomson Road are even more shops, pubs and restaurants like Fat Boys.

These amenities are at the most, a four minute walk from 183 Longhaus.

Across the road from 183 Longhaus is the Thomson Community Centre. Next to that is Thomson Imperial, another mixed development.

There are several shops on the ground level, including a House of Traditional Javanese Massage and a Shop n Save grocery store.

About a five minute walk away, is another row of restaurants and cafes with various offerings like steamboat, western cuisine, Indian food and much more.

183 Longhaus is about 600m from Marymount MRT station, putting it at an estimated 10 minute walk away. There are two new MRT stations incoming to the general area – Bright Hill and Caldecott – though both are much further away than Marymount and not within an easy walking distance.

Upper Thomson MRT station is another upcoming MRT station, though much closer to 183 Longhaus. Its location is somewhere near the Church of the Holy Spirit and is about 470m away. Walking time is within eight minutes.

Upper Thomson MRT station is on the new Thomson East Coast line that is currently under construction. This line is linked to Caldecott MRT Interchange which is connected to Woodlands North and goes all the way east to Sungei Bedok.

For now, Marymount Station is the most convenient as it is one stop from Bishan MRT Interchange on the circle line connecting it to the north-south line (Ang Mo Kio, Orchard). Thus, the closest shopping mall for residents of 183 Longhaus is Junction 8 at Bishan.

The circle line also runs toward Serangoon Interchange, which connects to the north-east line (Punggol, Dhoby Gaut), the upcoming Downtown Line at MacPherson Interchange (Tampines West, Bencoolen) and Paya Lebar Interchange on the east-west line (Changi Airport, Pasir Ris, Bugis).

Upper Thomson Road does get quite busy so traffic congestion may be an issue during peak hour travels for residents that drive.

That said however, there is a bus stop directly across the road and next to the Community Club with several buses that go toward Jurong East Interchange (52), Bukit Merah Interchange (132), Yio Chu Kang Terrace (162M), Toa Payoh Interchange (163), Clementi Interchange (165, 166), Harbourfront Interchange (855) and Lorong 1 Geylang Terrace (980).

On the side of 183 Longhaus, the closest bus stop is about 170m away, toward the direction of Marymount MRT. The buses there go toward Bishan Interchange (52), Ang Mo Kio Interchange (130, 166), Hougang Central Interchange (132), Yishun Interchange (855), Sembawang Interchange (167, 980), Sengkang Interchange (163) and Yio Chu Kang terrace (162, 162M).
