Bugis is one of Singapore’s early settlement areas. As such, it has very well established educational institutions ranging from secular to religious schools. Many of the residents comprise of the older generation. However, with the rejuvenation of the Ophir-Rochor Corridor, Bugis has seen a fresh injection of the young families, expats and foreigners moving into the district. Being a civic and cultural centre, Bugis boasts a number of arts-centric tertiary educational institutions such as LASALLE College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA). In addition, Bugis is home to a number of preschools, primary and reputable private and government-funded tertiary schools.
