Great Location but extremely non stoping nois
The condo is near star Vista shopping centre and couple of minutes from the Bona Vista MRT station which makes it a perfect location. However this comes with other negative points, for me the main drawback is the continues noise from renovations happening in different units all the time, once one unit finish another unit starts and this never stops, which could bring you crazy. Another negative point is the limited space for social activity, only one barbecue station is available which cost you 50 SGD to rent, and finally the very primitive small gym room which includes 3 treadmills and one multi-gym machine and limited number dumbbells, so if you are a person that gym is important, then you will need to consider a subscription in an external gym. -

Great location and unit lay out
Stayed here for overall 8 years. Excellent location with a minutes walk to MRT and 10min to Orchard. Greenery all around, and convenient next to Star Vista. Good unit layout and no bomb shelter. -

The Rochester
A handsome and neat architecture, combined with the Buona Vista MRT station and the star Vista Shopping Centre at it door step, the Rochester is a clear choice for many owners and tenants. Popular choice for the expats who work at Biopolis and Fusionpolis -

All great except for one dangerous matter!
We have been living at The Rochester for over a year and there are really many positives about this condo. However, people should be aware that, on three occasions since we've moved in, some of the building's glass panels on the balconies have shattered and sprayed glass everywhere. Tiny fragments of glass can be found on window sills and other balconies. On the last occasion, it was like a hailstorm of broken glass and glass fragments were sprayed all over the level 9 pool area (including the children's pool and grass play area). It is a miracle no-one has been hurt. Building management has not responded satisfactorily to date. They should have obtained an expert's report as to why the glass is breaking (whether it is poor glass quality or climate or incompatibility) the first and second times this has happened, but they have literally tried to sweep this matter away from view. We are awaiting their response to the latest incident. I would love to recommend The Rochester as perfect for families with children, because aside from this one serious matter, it is. However, the threat of broken glass falling down whilst my family play in the pool is frightening. -

Enjoyable Living
Have been in The Rochester for a year and have enjoyed living here. Communal areas are spacious e.g. lift wells, lobby & pool. Gym is small for a development this size (we never used it) The Star Vista has come a long way since we first moved in and realistically the Cold Storage & Rochester Marketplace is small and selection limited. It has been reasonably quiet too - but not sure whether construction will begin across the road! (Streetdirectory.com seems to indicate it will be Buona Vista Exchange U/C) Only complaints are that the management office were not particularly helpful (constant follow up was necessary). Also, parking is not included in rent. Saw a sign today that car park rental is $90/month, motorbike parking is $30/month. -

No Car Park lot?!
Dear Residents Can U pls. advise? We love the location! So near to everything.... But, Agent told me that the monthly maintain fees does not come with 1 car park lot for residents? We still have to buy a seasoned car park (abt S$250?) from the Mall Mgt, subject to availability? True, is it? I hope not! Because then my monthly maintain fees may scale up to $630 ++ for a 1281 sqft unit & a condo facilities that are not very exciting either; a rather smallish main pool, no tennis court, no themed gardens to stroll about after dinner .... Thank you. *Really need to hear from the horses' mouth asap as we are serious buyer & we need to revert to the Agent asap. -

Great place to stay!
Just shifted in and love the place. Location is fabulous. Just 2 mins walk from Buona Vista MRT and circle line. Mall a little empty now but great food within walking distance both at Dover/Ghim Moh as well as the great western/chinese places at Rochester Park. Highly Recommended! -

No hot water at the Rochester
Prospective renters should be warned that units at the Rochester do not come with hot water in the kitchens. While the location is very convenient to Buona Vista MRT, the building is currently very dusty while the mammoth Star Vista is under construction. Another building is about to be tendered across the street, so construction will continue for some time. It is neither peaceful nor quiet. Also, the pool and gym are small for such a large development. -

Spice add on to the area
This is gonna be another add on to the area after one north. The area kept quiet for sometime and now slowly taking upturn to roar. With near by HDB Enbloc, One North launched, The Rochester coming up... seems this area is going to fetch a very high yield in near future. The prices has gone up and place is in demand. Nearby resale Condo are feeling the climb in the prices both for rental as well as sale. -
