We just bought a house and is near completion. However instead of asking us to issue 1 cashier order for the last outstandIng figures. We are asked to issue 3 cashier orders instead. 1 in favor of seller name, 1 in favour of seller lawyer fees and 1 in favor of seller agent fees. Why are we as a buyer issuing cheque/ cashier order in favor of 3rd party which we have not deal with? Is this legal? Anyway that this practice is legitimate?

Hi,

1) Cashier order is meant for only a single entity. Thus it is not unusual to issue separate cashier orders for different parties.
2) It is strange that you as the buyer issue a cashier order to the seller's agent. This is definitely uncommon.
3) Suggest you double-check with your lawyer why are you are paying for the other party; the seller's employee in this situation. This is an unfair term that your lawyer should have raised when they received the OTP from you.
4) You may countercheck the OTP whether there is a clause that you have agreed and signed for that you are paying the seller's agent.
