So I am interested in renting a whole unit (one bedder) around this area. I signed the TA and pay a little bit for deposit as I am afraid being cheated. The TA effective date is 28 Jan and I signed it on 25 Jan. On 25 Jan as well, the landlord gave me the key and allow me to shift my things bit by bit. Then I asked the agent, can I have the landlord's phone number? In case something happened, and usually agent (no offence) is gone after I paid the agent fee. Then she said no please, anything must go through the agent. I am not allowed to speak directly and make negotiations directly.
I am confused at first but get along with it. Then I asked the owner (through the agent) that is it possible to have a pet? She said the landlord said no and now she didn't want me to rent her place anymore, and I need to pay a compensation fee for about $4100. I am confused and suspicious towards the agent.
