Serving out notice period: our landlord has given us six months notice to vacate due to en bloc sale. This is during our two year fixed term lease. Must we wait out the full notice period, or if we find a new unit before the end of the six months, can we vacate early and stop paying rent? Or if we leave within the six month notice period, are we still obliged to pay rent to the end of the six month period? Thanks

Probably the better way is to speak to your landlord to check if h or she is comfortable for you to vacate earlier than the 6 months notice period without any form of compensation and have it affirm in some of writing.

Sometimes, we need not consider immediately at the legal obligations but work out amicably between the stakeholders to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome.
