My question is on ABSD Relief.

My wife and I co-own an EC. If I buy a 2nd private property under my own name (rather than joint-name), and then we sell the EC within 6 months, will I be eligible to the ABSD relief?

Hi Mr Lee,

No, you will not be eligible for ABSD relief. ABSD relief is applicable for married couples with the intention to change their matrimonial homes, where both names must be in the properties purchased or sold. You are encouraged to read up more from IRAS website to get the full picture as information direct from source will be most accurate.

Hi,

For ABSD refund, the 2nd property purchased must be under joint names. Hence, for the scenario you mentioned, ABSD is not refundable.

May I know what are your objectives? Perhaps I could understand further and assist from there. Thanks and hope to discuss further.

Warm regards
