My mum, my younger brother and i wanted to buy a 3 room flat in the west but she is not working currently due to health issue and i just change a new job with basic pay about $1600. i wonder is it possible for my mum and i to share our cpf and my income to buy a 3 room flat or i can only rent a flat?

Hi Kathy,

It is still possible. However, you will need to do a detailed financial calculation to ensure that you will be able to afford the monthly housing loan instalment.

As you just changed a new job, you might have difficulties getting a housing loan from HDB as they require you to have at least 3 months of income proof from your current employer. Thus you may need to wait till you have passed your 3rd month into your new job before you can apply for HDB housing loan.

Alternatively, you may also approach a bank for bank loan (housing loan). In any case, I would advise you to get the Housing Loan Eligibility (HLE) from HDB or Approval in Principle (AIP) from any banks before you begin your search.

Based on your family eligibility, you may also like to check with HDB on yoiur eligibility to apply for any housing grant so as to help lighten your burden.
