My contract ends on June 2019 but states nothing regarding the consequences of early termination by tenant. It says "The landlord can serve tenant one month notice to terminate the contract when necessary" which I initially though to mean that the tenant can terminate the contract within one month notice, but it turned out to mean termination by landlord. There are no points or clauses whatsoever regarding termination by tenant so I thought that early termination just means losing my deposit. It turns out that the landlord asked for me to pay all the remainder of the rent and I'm not even allowed to find a replacement tenant. Due to work matters and problems with the room I'm renting, I'm planning to leave Singapore for good at the end of February, that means I would have to pay 4 months of rent, and I don't even know if he will return my deposit at the end. Do I have no other choice but to pay all this? The landlord is an agent so there are no external agents involved.
