My BTO has reached 5 years and I would like to apply for new BTO flat. Chances are low but if I were to get a queue number and subsequently decide to buy the new BTO, how long more can I stay in my current flat?

Hi,

1) You may stay until the BTO is ready for you to shift in.
2) Looking at the current situation, 1st timer can wait up to as long as 3 yrs to have a chance to select a flat. 2nd timer can expect to wait for around 5~6 yrs.
3) BTO completion had extended from 2~3yrs to 5~6yrs.
4) So the longest wait could be 6+6 = 12 yrs, the shortest wait should be around 10yrs until this pandemic is under control and the number of foreign workers is back to the norm.
5) So you likely can stay for 10~12 yrs before you need to shift out.
