Good morning Shirley,

Do be mindful that you will have to form a family nucleus with your husband in order to purchase a HDB. Thereafter you will have to dispose off your private property within 6 months from purchase completion date.

My team and I have assisted numerous in enhancing and grow their property portfolio. Do share more with me so I will be in a better position to advise you further.

Do let me share with you on one of clients that I am helping them to upgrade or grow their property portfolio (we just spent 6 hours viewing properties the weekend before).

They will be selling their 4rm flat (havent fully paid) and intend to purchase an unit for own stay and the other for investment after a few rounds of detailed financial planning.

You might not believe. This plan will be funded entirely by their sale and they wont be coming out with any amount from their savings. They would have reserved funds up to 4 years to finance their homes even if they dont work.

I would or would not say this will be possible for you as well but with detailed financial planning, you will have a clearer picture what is feasible for you.

Good morning Shirley,

Under the HDB ruling, private property owners who are buying HDB unit will be required to sell them off within 6 months from key collection date.

If you are SC, you can then opt to relinquish the ownership of your private property before purchasing a HDB unit. Upon fulfilling MOP, you can then obtain your second property or more without the need to sell the HDB.

Hi Shirley,

Unfortunately no, you have to sell away your private condo once your purchase hdb. You are also required to form a family nucleus to be eligible for HDB, hence all applicants who own private properties need to sell them as well.

It depends on what private property you currently own.

If you own a non-residential private property, you can proceed to purchase a HDB flat as long you fulfill the eligibility conditions.

If you own a residential private property, you can still purchase your HDB, but will be required to sell off your private residential property within 6 months upon completion of your HDB purchase.
