I would like to know if the tenancy agreement is legal and valid if it is not registered in HDB. FYI, I have taken one flat last year in July,2009 and there were agents involved from both landlord and my side. But, I got to know recently from my land lord that his agent hasn't registered the tenancy agreement in HDB and he is also not sure if this registration is actually required as he rented out his flat for the first time. He also shared that he was staying for the last 10 years in this flat before he rented out to me . Since,I need to renew a tenancy contract with him this month for the next one year, I would like to know what are the formalities which need to be completed in case of any land lord wishes to rent out his approved HDB rental flat Lastly,Is there a need of doing "Stamped duty" as well. If yes, please let me know the procedure for it. Thanks.
