For residential properties, you will be liable for a 15% Additional Buyer Stamp Duty on top of the normal stamp duty of about 3%. You will be paying about 18% worth of stamp duty when purchasing a residential unit. Residential properties are also in a state of oversupply as rental are weak with new supplies coming into the market over the next few years.
This is the main reason why investors like yourself are turning their attention to commercial properties instead.
