I own a HDB flat with my husband. this flat is purchased using CPF. 1. Are we able to purchase a 2nd property with my brother (he is single) using CPF?

2. How does this affect his chance of buying a HDB BTO in future?

Good morning,

Firstly, your husband must be SC and have fulfilled the MOP requirement on the HDB unit.
Then if he opt to purchase second property with your brother, it would have to be private property. Do note that ABSD will be payable and LTV will be cap at 50%. He will need to note that he is required to set aside the CPF minimum sum before he can utilized the balance on the second property.
Lastly, he will need to know that he will only be eligible for BTO application after 30 months from the selling of the private property.

Hi,

If you are SC and have fulfilled the MOP for the hdb, yes you can purchase 2nd property. Do note that the barriers will be quite high as there is 7% ABSD payable, and your max loan will only be 50%. The cpf you can utilized for 2nd property will also be restricted to a certain extent.

As for your brother, he needs to wait out a 30 month period after selling private property before he can apply for BTO (assuming he qualifies).

Hi,
Yes, you may purchase with your brother but there is 7% ABSD. In order to purchase a BTO in the future, your brother's must wait for 30 months after dispose or remove his name from private property.
