I am the current owner of the HDB unit Resale since 2004.

An elderly relative of mine who owns a private property wishes to add my name into the ownership as joint tenant or occupant or whatever (not decider yet)

The reason for adding the name is to add another name to the ownership in case of any misshape to the existing owners

Am I eligible to be added on as a co-owner or even an occupant in this private property?

If I am an occupant, do I have a share of the property or just the staying right?

As co-owner or occupant, how will this addition affects my current status of my ownership in my HDB flat?

Afternoon,

If your friend is worried of any possible mishap, lasting power of attorney or WILL might be cheaper than adding you as co-owner. Adding you as co-owner will mean that you need to pay ABSD upon being introduced as owner of the private property. If you are SPR, you will be required to sell away your HDB unit. And the list goes on...

Thanks Mike. No wonder we need agent. Its so complicated. Correct me if I am wrong

I am a Singapore with HDB for more than 10 years. If I want my name into a private property as a co-owner.

I DONT HAVE TO SELL MY HDB
    I HAVE TO PAY ABSD

Putting the WILL aside, cos we don't wan to go into that before a person pass on.

If this is correct, when do I have to pay the ABSD? Immediate when my name is on the deed?
