Hi there,

Will there be any implications or extra taxes or fees to pay if I were to buy a Pte condo with my husband who is a Singapore PR? I am currently a sole owner of a resale HDB flat bought in 2009.

Hi Ms Woo, if you are thinking of purchasing another unit, your stamp duty payable will be at 10%.

Hi Ms. Woo,

If you jointly purchase a condo, ABSD will be based on the higher of the 2 applicants, which means a total of 10% for stamp duties. Thanks and may I understand your requirements further and discuss?

ABSD applicable in your case would be 10%, given that this will not be considered your first matrimonial home. Perhaps you could consider those options with 10% or more discounts or firesales so as to 'offset' the ABSD taxes. Good morning P,

The ABSD applicable to you as a SC purchasing a second property solely on your own or with your spouse is 7%. Total stamp duties is 7% + BSD 3% =10%.

If your spouse purchases it solely under his name, the ABSD applicable is 5%. Total stamp duties is 5% + BSD 3% =8%.

There will be a 2% difference in stamp duties thus it will be advisable to purchase the property under your spouse's name.
