Hi ! Need help ! I have paid a deposit of one month rent for a HDB flat 3 days ago without signing the agreement to secure the place. One of the roommate we were supposed to move with then backed off as the agreement was not including any termination clause and we felt it is risky indeed. We told her that we wanted the deposit back but the landlord says that she has lost an opportunity as she had other people ready move the next day through an agent... What should I do? It's a lot of money for us and we surely can't afford to lose it. Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Celine, sad to say that most of the time, the deposit is non refundable. So I suggest that you have a good talk with the landlord and hope that she would show mercy on you instead.
