Dear Kylee,

For the Executive Condominium, did you bought it in the resale market or directly from HDB?

You would need to adhere to 5years MOP (Minimum Occupation Period) if u get it direct.

Hi Kylee,

If you are the first owner for the EC, meaning you purchase it direct from HDB, you will only be eligible to sell after fulfilling the minimum occupation period (MOP) of 5 years. However, if you bought it from the resale market, meaning the previous owner who was the first owner had fulfilled the MOP of 5 years, then there will be no issue if you wish to sell it now.

Once the EC reaches 5 years from TOP date, MOP is no longer required for subsequent new owners. Buying and selling is very much like private condo except that you can only sell it to S'poreans and PRs. Foreigners are eligible to purchase EC only when it privatise upon 10 years.

Hi Kylee,

Under the HDB ruling, you will need to meet the 5 years Minimum Occupation Period if you get if direct from HDB.

But if you have a very strong reason to sell now without fulfilling the 5 yrs criteria, you can always write in to HDB to appeal for you to sell before 5yrs. But of course, it is a case by case basis.
