Hi,

Only the legal owners need to sign on the official OTP for the sale to be legally binding. It is still good to inform your mum about the sale to avoid complications later when moving out and handing over.

I would like to compliment Mr Ivan Ng for his professional work and effort.I sent my first post in Jan 2019 and Ivan replied promptly, so I have decided to contact Ivan for follow up. My EC was not ready for sale due to MOP (another 3 months from Jan) at that time and Ivan was able to give me advices on how to proceed from there. Initially we have decided to try to write to HDB for early sale but since it was only 3 months left, eventually we waited for another 3 months while we looked for our next property.     Hi Ben,

    In the OTP, only the actual legal owners and sellers name will be included and be needed to sign off on the document. Occupiers need not sign on the OTP.

    But it is still good to inform your mother about the impending house move. Because if she is not open to the move, and choose not to shift, it is difficult to plan our timeline transition and will potentially cause unhappy misunderstandings with our eventual buyer. The sale process will be held up. Perhaps we could speak further so to understand your concerns and plans better.
