The only time no cost/charges incurred by adding names or holding method is before you sign S&P.

After that, you can't avoid to incur legal fee to assist you in such matter.

As long as you add a name in, shares will be transferred, and it will be treated as a change of ownership. Hence, you will incur legal conveyancing fee, as well as stamp duties. The amount of stamp duties involved will depend on the % of share being transferred.
