Yes definitely. ABSD is based on property count, and your 1st HDB is considered the 1st property. Getting the 2nd residential property under your name incurs ABSD of 12% if you are Singaporean.

Yes, you will be required to pay ABSD as this will be considered your second residential property.

You may however apply for ABSD refund should you purchase the property with your spouse, and then sell off your current HDB latest within 6 months upon the condo purchase.

Hi,

1) New EC would require you to sell your current HDB with 6 months upon key collection. No ABSD incurred in this purchase process.
2) Resale EC is considered private property to SC and PR. Thus can purchase like private property as a 2nd home or for investment purpose. Therefore you shall be subject to 12% ABSD.
3) Unless you decided to purchase as a matrimonial home, purchase with both yourself and your spouse's name. You are allowed to apply for remission of ABSD.
Meaning you can get back your ABSD upon selling the current HDB flat. The condition of remission to be possible is current flat must be owned by both you and your spouse.
4) Do note that the only condition for the above 2 types of purchase is you have to complete the MOP of the current HDB flat.

If your end objective is to own 2 property , there is no way to escape the ABSD , a hefty 12% ABSD .

If you qualify for a new EC , it might interest you to go for a new EC as it is cheaper and it is a subsidised Condo , and no ABSD payable .
