Hi Gurus,
I got a situation here, hope you can advise me. Is there a LAW in Singapore that say that seller MUST pay seller's agent 1% commission? What if the agent's service is really so bad? Still I must give 1%? Can I give less than 1%? Will I be sued? Thanks.

Hi Candy,
Since you made no agreement, there's nothing that is binding you to this agent but if he's the one.

For the record, if you're actually intending to buy a condo for yourself. You need not pay your agent any commission. Your agent will have a share with the seller's agent.

If you're the seller, you'll be the one paying the amount agreed upon between you and the agent. The usual market practice is around 1-2% but like i mentioned, it's always flexible.

Like Ray suggested, you should actually have a talk with him before doing anything like reducing the commission agreed upon at first. Otherwise, you can make a formal complaint to his/her agency.

Should you have any more enquries Candy, please feel free to drop me an email at clintonlimzj@hotmail.com
