What are freehold condos?

There are two types of condos: freehold, and leasehold. Freehold condos allow the owners to hold their property for an indefinite amount of time. With leasehold condos, the property is returned to the government after the lease expires.
Do note, however, that there are limitations to your freehold condo. For instance, your condo might lie along an area that is planned for a major highway. The fact that it’s a freehold will not be enough to sway the government from demolishing it.
Another limitation is that freehold condos tend to be susceptible to en bloc sales, so you might still have to end up moving out if an en bloc goes through.
