Punggol
in the Malay language
means, "hurling sticks at tree branches to loosen fruits from their
stems". This region is known as one of the oldest residential areas
existing in Singapore. Punggol was taken up for many government
housing projects in the early 1960s. Ever since that time, there have
been many condominiums and HDB estates that have emerged in this
area. Real estate got a further boost when Prime Minister Lee Hsien
Loong declared the "Punggol 21-Plus" plan in 2007...
