What to do in Sengkang?

Sengkang is a developing new town with more and more amenities and things to do popping up with increasing frequency. Here are the things you, as a resident, can look forward to enjoying.

Shopping Malls

Seletar Mall
Connected to Fernvale LRT via the west loop of the Sengkang LRT line, the mall is also serviced by buses 50, 163 and 163M.

Seletar Mall is the first shopping mall in north-east Singapore to house a cinema (Shaw). NTUC FairPrice Finest and NTUC Foodfare are its other two anchor tenants.

The mall is four levels, where popular F&B outlets like Starbucks Coffee and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf among other cafes and eateries are located. Seletar Mall has Singapore’s first Oki-Machi outlet. 

Rivervale Plaza
Rivervale Plaza which is situated along Rivervale Lane is the first heartland shopping complex opened in Sengkang New Town. It houses supermarkets, food courts, fast food restaurants and the Sengkang Branch Office. Rivervale Plaza is walking distance from Kangkar LRT.

Greenwich V
A small, heartland mall located in Seletar Hills, it has several dining options, a Cold Storage and a few tuition centres.

Places of worship

Places of worship are a critical component of any new town, especially for a multi-cultural society with various beliefs.

Sengkang Methodist Church
Located at 31 Anchorvale Road S(545056), the church has English services every Sunday at 8.45am while services in Mandarin are at 11am.

Al-Maddwah Mosque
Situated across the field from Buangkok MRT station, the Al-Maddwah Mosque at 151 Compassvale Bow S(544997) also provides social services on top of serving the religious needs of its community.

St. Anne’s Church
Founded in 1963, St. Anne’s Church is a landmark of Sengkang and Punggol. The Catholic church opens from Monday to Sunday. Its’ address is 66 Sengkang E Way S(548593).

Parks

There are several parks located throughout the new town that gives the town its green and vibrant image. If you are looking to hang out for an afternoon or take a stroll with the family on an evening at one of the pars, here’s where you can find them.

Sengkang Sculpture Park
Situated along Compassvale Street, the Sculpture Park is open 24-hours. Schools organize boot camps there and it’s not uncommon to find people gathered to play Pokémon Go in the park.

Sengkang Riverside Park
Situated around Sengkang Sports Centre at Anchorvale (walking distance from Farmway LRT), the Riverside Park is more than 3km long. The canal runs between and there’s greenery around. It’s a popular location for people who jog, cycle or just brisk-walk.

Sengkang Neighbourhood Park
Situated along Sengkang East Drive and overlooking the Punggol Serangoon River, the Neighbourhood Park is less than a 10-minute walk from Kangkar LRT.
