My wife is a Singapore PR since 8 years, I received my PR just now. Our combine income will be more than 10K.

Q1. Are we eligible to buy 2nd hand HDB since my wife is a PR for more than 3 years?

Q2. If we cannot buy an HDB, what are the others options we have?

Currently we are renting a HDB, spending around 2500 as rent. We are looking for a house ready to move in at least before the tenancy expires, i.e. April/May 2015. We are looking for at least a 2 bedroom apartments, what would be the price range like and how much money I would need raise as down payment.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Unfortunately both of you need to be PRs of more than 3 years before you can purchase resale HDB. Thus, you have to consider private condos for your housing plans.

Which locations are you keen on and are you open to resale property? A reasonable price for a 2bedder unit in suburban areas will be about 800-900K. Breakdown as follows:

cash 5%
cpf 15%
max bank loan 80%
stamp duties (for PRs) and legal fees 8%

so for a 900K private apartment, 252K need to be ready within 8-9 weeks, using a combination of cash and cpf. Thanks and hope to have the opportunity to assist you further with your housing plans.
