My wife and I bought a 5 room flat directly from HDB in 1997. sold it in 2002 for a resale Mansionette and has been staying here since. Will there be a levy imposed on us if we buy another unit directly from HDB? what can we buy without incurring a levy? Thanks

Hi Mr Lim,

Have you take up CPF housing grant when you bought your resale flat in 2002?

If yes, you wont be eligible for a BTO.

Why?

One can only enjoy subsidised flats twice.

If you didn't enjoy CPF housing grant when you purchased your resale flat, you will need to be subject to 25% (based on resale price or 90% of market valuation, whichever is higher)

Without incurring resale levy, you might want to purchase an EC or private property.

Hope it helps!

Cheers..

Evening Mr. Lim,

Since your subsidized unit have being sold in 1997, you will be liable liable for 25% levy payable, based on the selling price of your 5 room flat. If you are keen to get another HDB unit without incurring levy, I'm afraid you only option is EC.
