My sister has never applied for any BTO ever. When she got married, her name was added to the HDB owned by her husband then. They sold HDB and bought a condo. They got divorce and sold the condo. After that, her name was added to HDB owned by my dad who is deceased. She is now the sole owner of this old HDB. Is she entitled to apply for a BTO?

Good morning Jin Choo,

It will be best to ask your sister to double confirm with HDB directly.

In my opinion, she will still be eligible as first timer if she doesnt contribute financially to her ex's and your dad's house.

By doing intent to buy on resale HDB portal (buying resale) also can tell if she is still eligible for housing grants.

By the way do take note that if she is a single, she only eligible to buy 2RM flexi BTO.

1) There was certain essential info unclear from your description.
2) Is the HDB flat that was owned by her ex-husband a BTO. If it is, then she will have to check with the HDB whether will this be considered enjoying subsidize from the govt.
3) As for the HDB flat owned by your dad, was this an inheritance flat or her name was added in before your dad passed on.
4) If it is an inherited flat, then she is deemed not enjoying any govt subsidy.
5) She may submit her query via the HDB feedback channel to clear her doubt with the above info clearly spelled:
