My auntie who is deaf and mute and have been working part time for many years. Now she is thinking of buying a HDB flat for herself. I have the following questions;

1.) She is single is she eligible to buy a resale HDB?

2.) As she is only working part-time, will she be able to get a hdb loan? How will they access the maximum amount she can loan?

3.) Is there a limitation on the size of HDB flat a single can buy? Can she purchase a 4 room?

Thanks in advance.

Morning David,

If your auntie is SC and aged 35 up, she's eligible to purchase resale HDB unit under single scheme.
Being a part-time worker, she can request her company for letter of employment, along with her payslip and CPF contribution, to apply for HLE. She might also be eligible for AHG.
As for the sizing of unit, it would be best to purchase within her ability. With HDB loan, she can choose up to 5 room flat but the monthly installment might be too much for her to upkeep. Given her condition, it would be good to have someone to explain the policies, terms and conditions, and what to expect, prior jumping into it. I have similar case of my ex-client where we engage someone from the deaf association to be our translator.
