I recently purchase a resale flat and during our application stage, we agreed to give the sellers the temporary extension of stay as they mentioned that they needed it. date of completion was mid Oct2021. Hence , the end of extension would be in mid Jan2022. I conveyed that everything to go by the book that was reason I paid an agent for the proceedings who I relied on their professionalism . My agent informed me in early Dec 2021 the sellers able to moved out earlier ie by 31Dec. To my surprise when I wanted to inform HDB through portal of early termination, I found out there was no record of application. When I confronted my agent, she then told me the sellers' end did not submit the extension application. For whatever reason, the seller agent did not even contacted me for an explanation . My agent was also trying hard to normalize the situation which I don't really buy the excuses. This was not communicated to me at all until I found out on my own. Can I understand if the current stay is legal? Is it a case to be reported to CEA of the buyer and seller agents of misrepresentation? From the Q&A page, it seems there are repeated cases of the similar situations , I thought there should be better control especially to protect first time buyers like me who could be easily taken by advantage for not knowing the procedures well.
