I am considering buying a studio or 1 bedder with a quantum of around $500k-$600k in areas like geylang and Jurong west due to future masterplan of Singapore. I am wondering should I be investing in a ready unit or a yet to TOP project? I am looking for long term rental yield instead of quantum gain.

Hi Jason, when you consider investing in property, other than looking at the future Master Plan, it is important to understand the surrounding condos. These condos are also in competition for the same tenants you are looking for once your unit TOP. Before making this purchase, would recommend to analyze before putting your hard earned money into the property. As a check, There is a new regulation introduced this year, Total Debt Servicing Ratio (TDSR), which will cap debt obligations to 60% of one's income (take into account of credit cards debts, car loan and others etc) thus I will highly recommend you to liaise with my bankers to do an in principle approval - IPA to find out how much loan you can take up. Hi Jason It is possible to get a 1 bedroom that is below 600k for new project but not for resale.
