Hi I am a Single SC and have applied a 2 RM bto flat which is due to collect next year. But the problem is that now I am assigned to overseas for work and will be staying overseas for next 5 years. My question is that after key collection, my flat will be empty as I am the only occupier the list (no relative in Singapore). In this situation, can I rent the flat first or can I leave it empty? Will HDB take legal action against me? Thank you.

You need to seek HDB approval after your key collection, this is subject to HDB approval. Without that it will be illegal, as 2rm flat cannot be rent out as a common rm.
