Project Details
Most condominiums proudly display the distance to the CBD in the number of MRT stops. V On Shenton has no need to do that. It is slap bang in the beating heart of the business district, on Singapore’s Wall Street. You would be forgiven for thinking that its location would mean a compromise. You get one of the most prestigious postcodes on the island, but you give up size, space and facilities. However, you could not be more wrong, the V On Shenton is big on every level. All 54 levels in fact.
On top of a connecting podium and underneath the office tower (the facilities are not open to those from the offices), you will find the swimming pool, spa pool and aqua gym. It being on the 8th floor, it is designed that when you are in the water you get an uninterrupted view of the sea.
That is also where you will find the spacious club room and outback BBQ pits in each of the corners of the open-air concourse.
The 24th and 34th floors of the residential block are where you will find common dining and relaxation areas, open to the views and almost constant sea breezes. There is also a small putting green.
A very large and well-equipped gym is on the 35th floor.
2 Bed + Study (1,206 sq ft)
All units – with the exception of the penthouses – are accessed via an open lobby that is open to the sea breezes, and which are a (literally) refreshing change from the airless, artificially lit ones that are a feature of most developments.
You have to keep reminding yourself that this is a two-bedroom apartment. It has the feel and square footage of at least a three-bedder. The very spacious living and dining area makes full use of the stunning views and opens out onto the balcony.
Like everything else in the unit, the size of the kitchen belies the fact that this is a two-bedder. The appliances are from Gaggenau.
The master bedroom easily fits a king-size bed.
The large en suite features a bath.
The second bedroom is more than big enough for a queen-size bed.
The study which is a proper room, can be ideal for a home office, or even a third bedroom.
3 Bed Type C3 (1,755 sq ft)
The layout gives two very distinct dining and living areas.
The large kitchen in this showflat is boxed in. That does not come with the unit, but is a good demonstration on how it can be developed to give extra privacy, as well as keeping the cooking smells away from the flat proper. That said, the high-end appliances do mean that there should not be an issue anyway.
All three bedrooms are a very good size, but the second bedroom with its 270 degree view is hard to beat but the master comes pretty close.
Just like the second bedroom, the master bedroom has an equally, if not, even better picturesque view.
The master en suite has a separate shower/bath.
The showflat also features a walk-in wardrobe made out of the utility room.
3 Bed Type C5 (1,356 sq ft)
This is the smallest three-bedroom unit available, but it is still incredibly spacious. In this layout, the living room and all three bedrooms overlook the sea.
One bedroom has been made into an office in the showflat, with the wardrobes taken out giving enough room for a very large home office.
The large en suite features a double wash basin and bath. Like all the bathrooms, it also boasts a stylish toilet. The fact that the developers have gone to so much time and effort for such a basic appliance tells you all you need to know about this project.
The master bedroom even features a large walk-in wardrobe and do not forget, this is the smallest three-bedder in the development.
The development also features six penthouses, two of which have been sold. Each penthouse – four of which are two storeys – has a unique layout, but they are all very large, and also feature an incredible roof terrace that is large enough to separate outdoor dining and cooking areas and entertaining/hosting spaces as well as outdoor cinemas. The best of all without a doubt, is that no matter what scenario you are looking to cater to, there will always be a beautiful backdrop of the sea and the cooling breezes that come off it.
Location
V On Shenton is located on the site of the former UIC building, which as well as it being an icon of the nation and a symbol of its transformation into a major world player, was also the tallest building on the island for many years. As a home, you really could not beat this for world class modern city living. You have everything that the beating heart of Singapore’s CBD provides, right on your doorstep. For those working in the city, walking to work is a distinct and rare possibility, but as you would expect, there are also fantastic links to the MRT network. Raffles MRT Interchange and Tanjong Pagar MRT are both very easy walks from the development. There is also a direct underground link from the building to Downtown MRT Station, as there will be to the future Shenton Way MRT Station when it is completed and ready to be opened in 2021.
As well as that though, the combination of the development’s location and its height means that residents will be able to enjoy sea views, views that will not be blocked by forthcoming developments as all the plots surrounding the building are taken and are built on.
The area around the development is also home to a huge range of high quality and highly diverse bars and restaurants, and the famous Lau Pa Sat is just a two minutes’ walk away.
Summary
The location of the V On Shenton is the first thing that will attract potential buyers, as there are not too many opportunities to own a home not just close to, but actually inside the financial district. However, V On Shenton offers a whole lot more than its postcode though. This is high-end living at its finest, and at its most spacious. Around 90 percent of the units have already been sold, with the smaller ones being snapped up first, mainly by investors which is an indication of what the market thinks about the viability and attractiveness of this development.
